INTRO TO COMPUTER BASED RECORDING

Description:
A solid foundation in the "analog" world is key for "musical" results in digital audio.

A overview of basic analogy concepts and terminology that applies directly to digital recording are covered in this course. Then an introduction into M.I.D.I application and terms to help you express "musically" into your computer or digital audio workstation. We will then finish with covering the latest trends in the digital audio world ( Mac/PC, types of sequencing software, VST's, hardware and costs) that applies to the individual and "blue-print" your ideal system.

Class sizes are limited.

Prerequisite: Basic Computer Skills, Digital Recording knowledge preferred

Training Type: Instructor led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured hands-on activities. Max # of students = 6.

MIDI APPLICATIONS FOR LIVE AND STUDIO

Description:
This workshop is designed to help you get the most out of your investment and become more expressive in your digital recordings.

A overview of CC controllers and values and how to assign various tasks or performances using the M.I.D.I protocol are covered on this course. From changing patches from your keyboard, editing in a sequencer to programming a light show, all musical applications are covered in this workshop. M.I.D.I. labs and experiments

are created to match the gear of the individual for optimum benefits in this workshop. A good knowledge of digital audio and M.I.D.I are required.

MIDI THEORY

Description:
This course explores the world of MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface), a data connection that allows sequencers, keyboards, drum machines, and computer programs to communicate and record performances which can then be played back on multiple synthesizers and sound modules. This series also covers sampling, synthesizer types, and additional characteristics of sound and signal.

This course is designed to cover the basic set up of "plug-ins" and virtual instruments and how they function in computer based recording. You will understand how to route audio to process your track into a effect and control parameters via m.i.d.i. This course has been developed for clients who have basic recording knowledge and ready to add "plug-ins" to mix audio files, as well as linking m.i.d.i to vst's to record your performance.
